Text Box: MUDHOLE THREATS

We will never have more MudHoles than we do today and the attrition rate for existing ones is high. After all, if a place
is very successful, it fails to qualify. The threats to
continued survival are numerous and obvious.

· Route 66 was destroyed by the interstate highway system.

· The majority of drive-in movies have been lost to the principle of highest-and-best-use.

· Escalating consumer expectations reduced demand for anything without “luxury” in its brand name.

· Franchise expansion killed most of the rest of the MudHoles.
